Skydrive Event

Today I am at a Microsoft Skydrive event.  Soon we will be going on a trip on a famous large london landmark/ride (I have tried to make this easy).  Soon I will be taking several photos of particular London Landmarks.

All you need to do is watch my twitter stream, identify the landmarks and where you think they were taken from with the hashtag #SkyDriveLondon.  If I manage to win then I will win two Nokia Lumia 800 phones.  One for me and one for one of my followers that help me today.

Thanks in advance

SOPA Blackout

So there are a couple of big sites today protesting about the proposed SOPA and PIPA legislation.  Wikipedia have taken their site off line for the day, google.com have blacked out their logo.  I have also seen wordpress have made some edits to their home page.

I had heard of oreilly.com taking their site down as well, but I have just checked and that is still up currently.

Do you know of any other sites protesting today?, and do you think it will make a difference?. I would love to hear your thoughts, so please add a comment.

Convert your iWeb blog to Wordpress

With Apple removing Mobileme this year, I am sure some people have their blogs hosted on the Mobileme servers.  You could possibly move your iWeb site to another hosting provider, but then as there has been no change to iWeb in a while, I am not convinced this application will be around in the future.  I thought if they were going to keep the application then there would of been some development to it.

There is a way that you can convert your blog over to Wordpress (then from there you could migrate it to a different platform i.e. Squarespace :-)).  There is a piece of software from Rage Software that will allow you to do this.  I have not tried this software myself yet, but soon I maybe using this as there is a site I have created for a client and they may want it migrated off of iWeb so it can be updated easier and more frequently, this way they are not limited to working at home on their Mac.  You can download the software from the following link.

Google Chrome Extensions - Web of Trust

This follows on from my previous posts regarding the extensions I use with Google's Chrome browser.  You can read my other posts by clicking on the following links, Passwordfail and Viewthru.

Web of Trust is a traffic light symbol system that displays how safe a website is.  The difference is this is not decided by an anti virus company, this is a crowd sourced system.  You can see the icon next to your address bar in the browser.

Sites are rated by a global community of users, who rate the website based on their experience of using them.  It also will display a rating next to the search results.  Links in applications such as Twitter etc and also covered as well.

You can click on the icon to display more details about the site you are concerned with, it looks like

You can also download the plugin from this link.  So what extensions do you use with Chrome, please feel free to pass them on.
