So Garmin have taken a number of services down to work on the outages they have been experiencing for the last couple of days. This seems to of affected many of their services, including the production lines in Asia.
It is being reported as a Ransomware attack, its being reported as Call centres so they can’t be contacted, all their services are having problems, even the Fly-garmin product is having problems.
Pilots need this for the most up to date information as a regulatory requirement.
They have not confirmed this is a Ransomware attack, but what ever you read about this is seems to be the cause.
They have said, “We are currently experiencing an outage that affects Garmin.com and Garmin Connect. This outage also affects our call centres and we are currently unable to receive any calls, emails or online chats. Garmin are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and apologise for the inconvenience”
I feel for the IT guys, as this will take a major effort to get this up and running again in a highly stressful environment.
