Recently I was asked about being able to watch videos from a GoPro on a Mac. They did not have any software on the Mac and they were checking out the footage on the SD cards. All of the videos have an *.LRV extension.
You can watch them easily enough by changing the file extension to MP4, then you can just view with Quicktime. There were loads of videos, so instead of going through each file I thought I would be able to easily do this with Automator. I can then leave this in place for them in the future, so he will easily be able to drag and drop the files from all his cards and he will have a copy and can easily view the files.
This can be done with an Application, which you can drag and drop on to, or you can have this as a Folder Action. This will be any files you drop into this folder will then be converted and moved to another folder.
This is a very simple two step action. You can see from the screenshot below the steps you need. You select the folder for the action to run off.
