iCalFollowing on from my last post about how to Run Python Scripts in Automator. My next challenge was to get my automator action to run in iCal.
I set up an entry to run every Sunday at 10pm, as the alert I had picked to open file, and pointed it at my Automator application. I sat waiting in anticipation, and when the time came nothing happened.
From looking around, it seems to schedule applications etc, then the calendars need to be local on the mac, all my calendars were stored on iCloud. Once I had created a local calendar on the mac then everything works exactly how I want it.
So if you do want to schedule a file to open, or an application to run make sure the Calendar is a local one.
Recently I seem to be scripting more and more tasks using automator and Applescript, my "Automator" calendar is starting to look very busy.
