I am having a good clear out and I am stunned on how much crap I have kept. One thing that I found interesting today was the progress and the size that storage has moved on.
I found old external hard drives, which where a whopping 50gb in size. It had an external power adaptor and everything. Found a couple of portable drives as well up to 100gb.
I also found 3 laptops, some of which I nearly put my back out lifting them up, huge heavy machines, which from what I recall did not have huge storage sizes.
I found an old box full of USB thumb drives and SD cards. Full size SD card, a whole 8mb of Storage, there was so many more, 256Mb, 512Mb, and about half a dozen 64 Mb ones.
Seemed amazing when I found 1Gb and 2Gb Sandisk Cruzer USB drives. I had a number of Compact Flash Cards as well, I used to have so many of these types of media.
To think now i have about 1 or 2 micro SD cards, these are at 128gb now, but you can now get them up to 1TB.
There were also so many blank CD’s, and the classic re-writable CD and DVD, I can’t believe I bought so much media and then never used it all.
So in the same physical size of media we have gone from 1Mb up to 1TB, a great evolution, but now with all the cloud offerings, does anyone still use removable media?
