IBM's new micro computer

It was announced yesterday that IBM have released a computer so small that it is only 1mm * 1mm, about the same size as a grain of salt.

You can see the actual size on the picture at the bottom.  IBM claims the new processor has the same power of an original x86 chip from the 1990.

Some official words from IBM,

“Within the next five years, cryptographic anchors — such as ink dots or tiny computers smaller than a grain of salt — will be embedded in everyday objects and devices," said IBM head of research Arvind Krishna. “They’ll be used in tandem with blockchain’s distributed ledger technology to ensure an object’s authenticity from its point of origin to when it reaches the hands of the customer.

Could be interesting in the next few years, although a bit of a pain to change one of these on a system board.
