Well after four years there has been an update to PuTTY. The official text for the release is "PuTTY 0.61 is out, after over four years (sorry!), with new features, bug fixes, and compatibility updates for Windows 7 and various SSH server software."
For me this helps as the older version of PuTTY did not display the password notices on our few Solaris 10 machines. We added password rules etc, and when using PuTTY it would not say that the password was too short, or didn't contain a digit etc, but this has now been rectified.
