Epson ET-2710 Printer

Epson ET-2710 Printer

Because of this lockdown and the sheer amount of printing that I have had to do, I have purchased a new printer. The main reason I bought a new one was because of the stupid high prices places were charging for printer ink for my HP Photosmart 5510d.

The HP has always served me well, was good as a multi function machine, however it has never been the best for ink. Plus they did seem to dry up quite a bit, I would say I would have to replace these every 100 pages at the maximum.

So from looking around this Epson model boasted you can print thousands of pages with their EcoTank technology. There is no more cartridges with this, you fill the tanks with ink bottles.

This is also a 3-in-1 device as well so not a standard printer. I also paid £17 for the unlimited refills for two years. From when it arrived, it was easy to unpack, however there was no software drivers come with this, you need to download them yourself. This was easy enough to find for the Mac, so I can print wirelessly with no bother. There are lot of tags and bits of tape that you need to pull off and take the time to ensure you have them all.

The bottles that come for the initial fill are too big for the tanks in the printer. After the initial fill you still have a bit of ink left, this is good and bad. Good that you have some spare ink, but bad as you now have to store these, be nice to fill the tanks and then get rid of the bottles.

Well I have had this for a couple of months now, and I can safely say this printer is good on ink. I have printed over 500 pages (One full pack of paper) and I am still in a very good place in ink.

What I have found is if you don’t use this for a couple of weeks, then you need to clean the heads and print a test page, otherwise it’s a bit patchy. After you have completed this then it prints again with no issues,
