Outlook Email Scheduling

This is something I have not really used before, but recently I have found this to be quite a helpful productivity tip. The reason why I say this is a productivity tip is because it allows you to send out emails when you want to send and avoid the chains and chains of replies.

Also I have found this helps with my team and balancing some work life balance. I have some great team members and they feel when I send a mail that they need to respond. This is not the case, just because I decide to send some mails of a weekend it does not mean they need to respond, even if I tell them not to. Also I have people all around the word, so I can schedule the mails so they seem they when they start work.

Delay the delivery of a message

  1. While composing a message, select the More options arrow from the Tags group in the Ribbon.

  1. Under Delivery options, select the Do not deliver before check box, and then click the delivery date and time you want.

  2. Click Close.

  3. When you're done composing your email message, select Send.

After you click Send, the message remains in the Outbox folder until the delivery time.

If you decide later that you want to send the message immediately, do the following:

  1. Switch to the Outbox folder.

  2. Open the delayed message.

  3. Select the More options arrow from the Tags group in the Ribbon.

  4. Under Delivery options, clear the Do not deliver before check box.

  5. Click Close and send.

You can also if you like to defer all messages but I don’t want to do that as most of the time emails are there to be sent at the time, this is more the exception.
