I have briefly mentioned this in the Weekly Newsletter about how I have started to use this service. I am using this as a digital accountability buddy.
Beeminder is a service you can use to track your progress on certain tasks, and hold you accountable as it will have financial penalties, in their words,
“It's reminders with a sting! Or, goal-tracking with teeth. Mind anything you can graph — weight, pushups, to-do tasks completed — by replying with data when Beeminder prompts you. Or connect with one of the dozens of services (like Fitbit or RescueTime) that we integrate with to report automatically. We plot your progress on a Yellow Brick Road to your goal. Keep all your datapoints on the good side of your road or (literally) pay the price.”
I have setup two data points, one is to ensure I post every X amount of days, and also to ensure that I publish the Newsletter. If I miss the data point then my card will be charged an amount. I have this set at $10, so if I were to miss the target then it has a financial penalty.
I don’t have to manually login and create these points, I have set this up with IFTTT. This monitors the feed from the blog, or the link for when the newsletter is published via Mailchimp. Each time this is done, it will then update the counter, so this way. I am happy to explain how this is setup, or help you set this up if you would like, just get in contact from the link below.
I am just on the Free Beeminder service, so this will allow you to set three goals. If you did want to track more then you will need to sign up for one of the Pro plans.
