I have always been a fan of IFTTT and I use this for a variety of automation tasks from automating money saving to tracking posts and details so I don’t get fined from Beeminder.
However recently I have started to use Zapier. The reason for this is they have come out with connections to the Notion API. This way I can setup Webhooks and also scheduled tasks that create tasks directly into Notion.
The webhooks allow me to create an action in Drafts for iOS so i can quickly add a note in drafts then send that to either my Master Task Database, or quickly add a book that sounds interesting to my reading list.
Using Zapier, I can add lines into my custom Master Task Database exactly as I would like it. Once you link the database you have the choice of the fields you would like to update, this is missing from IFTTT.
Currently IFTTT only add pages into existing pages, you can’t create a custom database entry at the moment. In one way I am hoping this does come out soon so I don’t need to pay out for the two automation platforms.
Do you use a specific automation platform, or do you use multiple ones also. I am interested in your thoughts so please add some comments below.
