Booking.com Privacy Breach
So I have received an email to say that Booking.com have found some suspicious activity, you see the details from the body of the email below.
The Account was locked out, so now this has been reset to be secure, nice password generator from 1Password. I have not used this for a couple of years now, but good they got in contact to notify me. Doesn’t say if they did get in or managed to get any personal details.
We recently noticed some suspicious activity from an unknown external device attempting to access certain Booking.com accounts. As a precaution, we have temporarily locked your account, and would ask that you please re-set your password.
To reset your password and resume using Booking.com securely, please do the following:
Go to the Booking.com homepage
Select Sign in at the top of the homepage
Click the 'Forgot your password?' link
Enter your email address and we'll send you a link to reset your password
If you use your password for other online services, we recommend that you reset the passwords for those accounts as a precaution.
Stay safe and increase the security of your account by adding Two Factor Authentication. You can enable this within the Security tab in your account settings.
Because the security of your personal information is our top priority, we always recommend that our customers remember the following:
Booking.com will never ask you for your credit card details or personal information by phone or e-mail. We collect and store all necessary information on our secure online system.
We will never ask you to make a bank transfer outside of the terms and conditions outlined in your reservation policies.
We will always e-mail you from an official booking.com e-mail address ending in @booking.com and the email will never link to a non-Booking.com or non-Villas.com website.
Thank you for your patience.
Kind regards,
Booking.com Customer Service Team
