So it appears now older phone will no longer be able to use WhatsApp. This ceased on Saturday 1st February, this is for both Android and Apple devices. The phones below the following version will no longer function. Android 2.3.7 and iOS 8 or older will now stop.
They are saying that this is necessary in order to protect the users from potential security risks.
This is following on from no longer working on Windows phones at the end of last year, although I am pretty sure not many people actually used Windows Phones.
