Recently I was thinking about enhancing my logoff script I use for my work machine. I wanted to enhance the basic script so that it backs up a certain directory when I shut down. My first question was whether or not you could view all the available drives on your PC from the command line, this is so I could pass the option of what drive to back up to.
I asked a couple of windows support people, one said it can't be done, while another mentioned it can but he could not remember the command. After a very short search, I found the following command will show the drives.
fsutil fsinfo drives
Once you type that it will display the drives available to you, as you can see below those are the drives I have available to me currently :
Drives: C:\ D:\ E:\ P:\ T:\ U:\
I am always interested in feedback so feel free to add any comments, or you can mail me here, also if you would like to submit a quick tip with full credit and links back to your site then also feel free to contact me.
