Microsoft sinks a data center off the Orkney coast

So Microsoft have decided to sink a data center off the coast of the Orkney isles.  It is planned for it to be down there for 5 years.  The main point of the test is to see whether or not it can prove efficiency.

It will be run using renewable energy and the cooling will be taken care of by the Sea its self.

It has 12 racks of machines but enough storage to store 5 million movies, internet will also be supplied by cable.

If any of the machines to break then they can't be replaced, but they feel the failure rate will be much lower than servers in a normal data center environment.

Time will tell if this has been a success or not, whatever happens its a good challenge and good to see what is possible,
