So it has came out today that HP have some software on some of their laptop range that could if activated record every key stroke the user types.
The Security researcher Michael Myng found the key-logging code in software drivers preinstalled on the laptops. It effects the following ranges EliteBook, ProBook, Pavilion and Envy ranges, among others. You can a full list that are effect by this full list. They have since issued a patch to remove the software.
Although its disabled by default it could easily be enabled, HP say they had it in there should it ever be needed to help to debug errors. This is not the first time HP have been caught with this type of software, earlier in the year it was in some audio driver software.
