I have been putting off of upgrading to Mountain Lion on my main iMac at home because I had heard that if you want to schedule/run scripts then you would need to purchase Lingon or some other third party software to run these.

Not to say that I have an issue with this, but I like to try and keep things nice and simple (sometimes). Currently I am on Lion and I have quite a few things that I script and I schedule to run at specific times, so I did not want to have to add another layer.

But recently I heard a tip on the Mac Geek gab podcasts that you can schedule scripts to run from within iCal, you just need to save them as an application, as mine are mainly Applescripts, this will be nice and simple as I can load them up then save them as an Application. The other scripts that I have to run are writing in Python, again this is not a problem as I already have this saved as an application in Automator, if you have Python scripts you want to run via Automator you can read my posts about the issues I had and how I resolved them.
