Bitdefender boasts 400million users throughout the world and their app not only provides protection from pages and malicious online sites but also scans all downloaded apps as they are installed. It also helps you control the privacy permissions associated with some of your apps. Many apps will include often confusing requests to access various areas of personal information, some necessary and some unnecessary, but Bitdefender provides you with the option to control the permissions of all your apps in one place. Its not entirely free with Bitdefender charging for the Web-Security and Anti-Theft features but you can try all of it for two weeks free before you decide whether you wish to go forward.

4.  Antivirus Free

Antivirus Free may not be as well-known in the wider world but in the world of Android, it has gained quite a following with nearly 10million users and a 4.5 out of 5 rating from over 47,000 reviewers. Claiming to be faster and lighter on battery usage than any other antivirus software, the Antivirus Free aims to provide comprehensive protection from malware apps as well as from online spyware and trojans. A simple, no-frills app, Antivirus Free doesn’t have as many features as some of the other apps but it is this simplicity that makes it so appealing.

Microsoft releases OneNote for Android

Microsoft OnenoteMicrosoft have just announced the release of OneNote for Android on the Android Market app store.  

With this release, the OneNote mobile apps are available across a variety of platforms — including Windows Phone 7, iPhone, iPad, and now Android . The release allows users to effortlessly collect, share, and find all of the information they want to keep track of, using a variety of features from simple lists and pages to full-fledged notebooks that can be shared with friends, family, co-workers, or classmates.

OneNote 1.0 for Android supports the following features:

• Text formatting, images, and bulleted lists in any note
• Checklists and To-Do lists
• Quick photo capture with a phone's camera
• Quick access to recent notes
• Store and access multiple OneNote notebooks
• Sync to your free SkyDrive  account for access anywhere
• Offline access to notes
• Option to sync notebooks only over a WiFi connection
• Built-in spell checker
• Support for external hyperlinks
• Table editing
• Free technical support

OneNote for Android is free to download and use for up to 500 notes. When users have reached this limit, they can upgrade OneNote for Android for a one-time fee of £2.99 for unlimited use.

People who choose not to upgrade to the unlimited version, can still view, sync, and delete any of their existing notes even after they've reached the 500 notes limit. However, they will no longer be able to edit their notes or create new ones on their Android phone.

Gingerbread coming to the X10

There has been an update on when Gingerbread (Android 2.3) will be coming to the X10.  

It will start to be rolled out in August, it will include new software functionality taken from the latest Xperia family handset line-up.  The full information can be found on the Sony Ericsson Product blog.
