As their post says"

Channel 5 today announced that The Gadget Show will return to our screens this Spring in a new, revamped format. The brand new series will take the show on the road, as presenters Jason Bradbury and Pollyanna Woodward travel the globe to test the latest in consumer gadgetry.

Each week The Gadget Show: World Tour will see Jason and Pollyanna undertake an international gadget road trip. From Abu Dhabi to Silicon Valley, from New York to Monaco, our pair of gadget experts will give their verdict on the very latest high-street tech, as well as stopping off to showcase more cutting-edge technology.

On its travels, the show will be visiting Japan, the USA, the Mediterranean, and the UAE to test the best smartphones, laptops, TV’s, gaming consoles and cameras on the market. In the first episode, the show lands in Tokyo in search of parts to build a winning robot for a robot fighting tournament."

So it looks like there will be no more Suzi Perry, Ortis Deley or Jon Bentley. On the comments to the post there seems to be a lot of negative comments about how the show will be, for me I can't really comment on the show until I have actually seen a couple of episodes to see how the new format will work, they did seem to be a good chemistry with the team before, so time will tell.

Love it or hate it, Google's Android operating system has been the most targeted system so far due to its open app store which allows anyone to easily upload unchecked apps. Fortunately, many of the world's leading computer security firms have been quick to protect our phones with a range of anti-malware apps. Here are the best five antivirus apps for Android smartphones.

1. Kaspersky Mobile Security

Kaspersky have become well-known over the last 12 months with a series of high-profile and high-budget advertising campaigns. Their mobile security app for Android is their mobile extension to their popular and effective PC security software. The app affords the user protection from viruses, span and harmful programs as well as unsolicited phone calls and text messages. A very useful addition is that it has a built-in anti-theft system through which it will locate your mobile phone through Google Maps and disable and wipe your phone of your information and contacts, even if the thief has taken out your sim card.

2. Norton Mobile Security

Norton is another famous name in the world of computer security that has expanded into phone protection. Its features include the ability to scan an external SD card when inserted into your phone, to ensure you are not allowing viruses onto your phone as well as a remote locking feature which works in a similar manner to the Kaspersky app in that it allows you to place a security lock on your phone wherever you are through a simple text message. The app will also ensure that you are protected from phishing websites and other harmful pop-ups or sites.

3. Bitdefender Mobile Security

Bitdefender boasts 400million users throughout the world and their app not only provides protection from pages and malicious online sites but also scans all downloaded apps as they are installed. It also helps you control the privacy permissions associated with some of your apps. Many apps will include often confusing requests to access various areas of personal information, some necessary and some unnecessary, but Bitdefender provides you with the option to control the permissions of all your apps in one place. Its not entirely free with Bitdefender charging for the Web-Security and Anti-Theft features but you can try all of it for two weeks free before you decide whether you wish to go forward.

4. Antivirus Free

Antivirus Free may not be as well-known in the wider world but in the world of Android, it has gained quite a following with nearly 10million users and a 4.5 out of 5 rating from over 47,000 reviewers. Claiming to be faster and lighter on battery usage than any other antivirus software, the Antivirus Free aims to provide comprehensive protection from malware apps as well as from online spyware and trojans. A simple, no-frills app, Antivirus Free doesn’t have as many features as some of the other apps but it is this simplicity that makes it so appealing.

5. ALYac Android

The ALYac Android app provides an aesthetically pleasing user interface that is easy to use but still provides the protection you get from the more advanced apps. As well as malicious file and package detection and application scanning, it also helps filter spam and ensure that any apps that are downloaded and running remain safe to use.

This little device is a small little box that acts as a 3G Wifi router. It will take your sim from ThreeUK and allow you to have wifi around your house without having to pay line rental to one of the major phone/ISP providers.

This will be great for students, people that rent, holiday's etc all you need to do is plug the device in. If you are moving no more worrying about moving lines etc and being down for a while, just unplug this and plug it in the new location.

The Web Cube is HSPA+ enabled to the 21.1Mbps technical standard, to deliver typical download speeds of 2-5Mbps, comparable to those of entry-level fixed-line broadband solutions, with the potential to reach a maximum download speed in excess of 10Mbps.

Like their current Mifi product you can have up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices can be connected at any one time, this will include your phones, computers, tablets, consoles etc. It has a range of around 30 meters but your home environment may reduce the range, as is the case with all wireless routers.

Currently this is not nationwide, it is being tested in Leeds, Glasgow and Edinburgh, I am sure it won't be long before it's rolled out to everyone.

When we arrived at the Marriott hotel on the south bank, we all met the gang for the day and we were giving some time to setup our kit and there was an envelope which contained our challenges, we were not allowed to open them yet, it was all very Mission Impossible.

After a short time Ian Moulster kicked off the talk/demonstration of the Skydrive Product. He showed us many features of skydrive and easy it is to use and how we will have to use the application to complete our challenges.

London Eye taken with iPhone 3GSOur first challenge involved taking a trip on the London Eye. While we were going round, we would have to get a picture of 4 famous London Landmarks:

Battersea Power Station

St Paul's Cathedral

The Shard

BT Tower

Once we had taken the photos we then had to upload them up to our Skydrive Account ( all you need to access skydrive is a hotmail address or Windows live account).

Once we had them uploaded them to Skydrive we then had to use our machines to share the pictures out publicly, we then had to tweet the link and get our twitter followers to identify the London landmarks and where they were pictured from.

All the replies had to have the hashtag #SkyDriveLondon, the first person to receive three correct answers with the hashtag would win 2 Nokia Lumia 800 phones, one of the winner and one to give away to your followers. I have to say a big thanks to @stephenwing from the @Ukgadgeteer who was responding as soon I could upload the pictures (wifi connection issues), and frankly I was shocked we lost the speed he was replying, it was a fantastic effort but congratulations to @aedney who won the phones.

Our second challenge was to create a PowerPoint presentation using the webapps, that described our day's events as well as displaying the pictures that we had taken. When you are logged into Skydrive, you have access to the Web versions of applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. You have the ability to download your document into the desktop applications to make further enhancements to the documents. The webapps are cut down versions so there are some functions within PowerPoint this example that you won't be able to do. Most of the bloggers there had full PowerPoint on their machines so they could create much better presentations than I managed to. Here is a link to my presentation that I created in a few minutes using only the webapp.

Unfortunately as great as my presentation was (now be nice), I was not the winner of the competition, the winner of the this part of the day was Melinda http://twitter.com/missgeeky). Her prize for her efforts was a new Acer Ultrabook.

I was going to include my pictures of the day, but I thought it would be better to share them out using Skydrive, you can see my shared folder here.

I would like to thank Ian Moulster from Microsoft and 3MonkeysPR for inviting me to the day. My review of Skydrive will be up shortly.

I loved this device as it gave me the chance to type up long notes, work on documentation etc. How ever the smart phone arrived and as it was this was the end to my iPaq (the iPaq was great at the time).

Once I got my first iPhone 3G I thought I would be able to use the keyboard with this, great I thought, however I was very disappointed when it said that the iPhone at the time would not support bluetooth keyboards.

As like most tech people I did not dispose of the keyboard, it goes in to the boxes in the loft, you never know when you will need it again. Most tech people I know have boxes of old crap somewhere which is full of stuff you know you will never need again, like parallel printer cables, dial up modems and serial cables etc, but we just have to keep it.

From there I left it and never went back to it again, but on Friday when I was attending a Microsoft Skydrive Event, one of the tech bloggers there pulled out this little keyboard and starting typing away with her iPhone 4. Currently I am still rocking a 3GS (until March, when I am due an upgrade), so I wondered if it would work with my iPhone.

So as soon as I got home I looked in my database of all my tech kit (no it's not sad, it's organised, thanks Bento), found the keyboard straight away, plugged in new batteries and boom straight away it connected and I could type away with my phone, happy days. Looking back bluetooth keyboard support was enabled in iOS 4, so it has been supported for a long period of time and many times I could of resurrected the keyboard.

Now I can carry this very small lightweight keyboard around with me in my bag, so in the event I am out the office for a day and forget my iPad or I am not near a machine, if I need to, I still have the ability to type away happily on a proper keyboard straight onto my phone. Despite its portable size it is a full size keyboard which I find comfortable to use and can still type at quite a pace.

Below are a couple of photos, so you see the rough size

iPhone 3GS and Stowaway Keyboard iPhone 3GS Docked
